  • Two additional tracks from Hamburg-Hasselbrook to Ahrensburg-Gartenholz (L = 17 km)
  • One additional track from Ahrensburg to Ahrensburg-Gartenholz (L = 3 km)
  • Construction of four new stations in Hamburg
  • Construction of one new station in Schleswig-Holstein
  • Extension of seven stations to express line capability
  • Erection of soundproof walls, incl. central wall (L = 45 km)
  • Construction or conversion of railway overpasses (n = 36 pcs.) for receiving or spanning additional tracks
  • Conversion of road and pedestrian overpasses (n = 6 pcs.)

  • Several railway crossings lost due to railway and road overpasses
  • Active and passive noise protection for residents

  • Catchment area of the S4 covers 250,000 people
